Steven Allen Sievert

March 9, 1953 — October 15, 2017

Ridgecrest

Steven Sievert passed away peacefully at home with his wife and daughter by his side October 15th.

Steve was a Ridgecrest native born to Al and Marian Sievert. Except for a short stint at the Long Beach Shipyards and a year as a shop teacher in Palmer, Alaska, Steve's career was at China Lake as an engineering technician.  He came from a family of designers, artists and builders.  With his Grandpa Verney and his dad Al, he designed, developed and built a direct drive anti-reverse fly fishing reel for which they received a patent.

Steve loved hunting, fishing, hiking, and spending time at his parents cabin on the Hood Canal in Washington.  He was not one to sit idle and was always making or fixing something.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kathie, his children Eric (Hopi), Scott (Kelli), and Anna (Brian), and grandchildren Matthew, Joshua, Anthony, Ryan, Bradley, and Emily, all of Ridgecrest.  He is also survived by his sister Susan (Ron) Geis of Sequim, Washington, and niece, Mariah Geis, of Ridgecrest.

A celebration of life will be held at Grace Lutheran in Ridgecrest on October 28, 2017 at 11am..

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 8200 Stockdale Hwy, M10-109, Bakersfield, CA  93311.
