Steven Patrick Smith

September 16, 1959 — September 10, 2025

Steven (Sarge) Smith passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at his sister's home in Ridgecrest. He fought cancer until the end, but it was just relentless.

Steve was born in Auburn Washington. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to Santa Barbara CA. He grew up there and loved going back and spending time with family & friends. He loved spending his summer months visiting grandparents. He especially loved being at the dairy farm and he said that his grandparents had a big impact on his work ethic and who he became as a person. At the age of 17 he joined the Marine Corps and his adventures began!

Steve lived with gusto. He enjoyed life; motorcycles, music, football, UFC, and so much more. He got to chase a dream of working in pro off-road motocross racing, and made it happen. He was even featured in Motocross World magazine. He traveled a lot, and saw many parts of our great country. He had friends everywhere and he held those friendships close. His friends and family meant the world to him. His daughter remarked that he was truly one of the strongest, most respectable men she had ever known.

He is survived by his five children; Rhiannon Smith; Shayne Smith (Mary Kendall, daughter Brecken, plus a grandson on the way); Chelsea Quick (Steven & grandson Ryan); Ehren Quick; and Hannah Smith (Brennen). His children were the loves of his life. He is also survived by his mother Barbara Smith; sisters Julie Thomas and Marci Burnett, and brother Mike Smith (Cindy).

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Services will be announced at a later date.
