Syble R. Cope, 86, of Ridgecrest, CA passed from this life and was born to life eternal on Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was surrounded by her husband and children in her final earthly moments.
Syble was born on March 21, 1938 to Charlie and Delana Graham in Dustin, OK, and moved to CA when she was 2 years old. She was one of 8 children. Syble married Bill Cope on July 7, 1956, and they were blessed with 3 children, Laura, Lyn, and Marc. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. In 1966, they moved to Ridgecrest, CA. Once the children were all in school, Syble went to work for the Naval Weapons Center, working there for over 20 years. She retired from the position of Housing Director in 1995.
She was active in local churches, missions, volunteered as a pink lady at the hospital, and was a 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. A passionate and talented quilter, Syble found much joy in quilting, sometimes for her own collection, but most often to give as gifts to her family and friends. Each quilt was a labor of love and a testament to her skill, creativity, and love for her family. Her beautiful quilts will be treasured for generations.
The majority of Syble's time and energy revolved around her family. She was a loving wife to her husband, a caring mother to her children, a selfless "Gram" to her grandchildren and a fabulous "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren. She was adored by, and will be missed by, each of them.
Syble was a devoted follower of Jesus, leaving a legacy of discipleship that continues on in each generation of her family- a true testimony to the deep seeds of faith that she planted.
Syble was predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Delana Graham, brothers Bill Richards, Chuck Graham, Terre Graham, sisters Faye Anderson and Velma Puryear. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill Cope, her children, Laura (Scott) McGlothlin, Lyn (Dennis) Buckley, Marc (Carrie) Cope, grandchildren, Jennifer (Jered) Cox, Megan (Joshua) Fitzpatrick, Patrick (McKenna) Buckley, Heather (Clifford) Askins, Christine (Mike) Holley, Tiana Cope, Jenna Cope, great-grandchildren, Colton, Tyler and Ethan Cox, Emily, Juliette, Liam and Olivia Fitzpatrick, Luka Buckley, Haylee and Avery Askins, sisters, Bernice Liles, Judy (Chuck) Smith, sister-in-law, Jean Graham, and numerous nieces and nephews.
