Theodore (Ted) Lewis Bachman, Jr.

January 19, 1951 — September 28, 2023

Ted, Theodore Lewis Bachman, Jr., went home to be with the Lord on September 28th, 2023, in Los Angeles California with his wife, Dr. Dalel Tartak by his side.  Ted was born on January 19, 1951 to Ted and Betty Bachman in Pensacola Florida.   "Teddy" was a beloved son, big brother, uncle, husband, and friend to many.  Teddy and his family moved to Ridgecrest in 1962 where his father would become the pharmacist at Medical Arts Prescription Pharmacy on Balsam Street.  He loved his "small town upbringing" where his mother's famous hospitality made sure that their humble home was the neighborhood hang-out for all kids who wanted to play any street games including football and basketball, and enjoy a delicious homemade meal or cookies.  Teddy was always graciously reminiscent of his upbringing and highly valued hard-work, his family, and friends.  He was known in his neighborhood as a "great athlete" and was idolized by many of his younger peers for his athletic prowess.   He was a neighborhood hero of sorts.  He was a graduate of Burroughs High School Class of 1969 and went on to graduate from New Mexico State University on a football scholarship.  He would follow his college football coach to Canada and play professional football for the Calgary Stampeders; from there he would go on to play for the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks during the 70's. Ted continuously maintained his excellent physical fitness and athleticism, keeping up a vigorous workout program throughout his life.    Professionally, Ted had a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), including working as the Head Controller for the Los Angeles Coliseum. He is remembered as being a confident, generous, kind man who loved to play practical jokes on people…especially at Christmas time! He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Ted is survived by his wife, Dr. Dalel Tartak of Newport Beach, California; his mother, Betty Bachman Gilmer, Ridgecrest; Brothers:  Dr. Michael Bachman (Mary Lynne) Ridgecrest; Tim Bachman (Teri) Bakersfield; David Bachman (Leslie) Nashville Tennessee; and sister Cathy Wuesthoff (Dr. Tom Wuesthoff) Gardnerville Nevada, as well as several nieces, nephews who loved and admired him.

A celebration of life will be held on January 19, 2024 - 11:30am at Grace Lutheran Church 502 N. Norma Street Ridgecrest, California.
