Wanda Lue Lawrence

WANDA LUE LAWRENCE

November 17, 1932 – December 30, 2024

Wanda Lue Lawrence, born November 17, 1932, was called home by our heavenly Father on December 30, 2024, at the age of 92.

Born in Enloe, Texas to Wando and Lula Lawrence, she was the third of four children. The family grew to eight children after the untimely passing of her aunt.

After graduating from high school, Wanda took on various housekeeping jobs. Limited to jobs available to people of color, Wanda decided to embark on a new adventure. In 1953, she moved to Buffalo, New York, then to Cleveland, Ohio in 1957. Her journey continued when she moved back to Paris, Texas, where she met her husband, Raymond Eastmon, on a blind date set up by their mothers. In 1963, they decided to make Ridgecrest, California their home.

While living in Ridgecrest, Wanda worked for Pan Am janitorial services. She later pursued a career as a certified nursing assistant at Beverly Manor Convalescent Hospital (now Bella Sera Skilled Nursing Facility). Finding the emotional challenges of elderly care difficult, she joined the team at Cerro Coso Community College and retired in 2002.

Wanda was a beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, her parents, sister, two brothers, two stepdaughters, two sons, a granddaughter, a grandson, a nephew, and several cousins.

She leaves behind her daughter, Linda Wilson, and her son, Ray Eastmon; her stepchildren, Barbara Johnson (J.W.), Leslie Eastmon, and Victor Eastmon; her granddaughters, Sonya Silas, Natasha Ward-Lucero (David), and Renee Jones; her grandsons, James Harper, Dorell Harper, Azail Bishop, Marsea Steward, Robert Martin, and Deven Eastmon; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan Bass and Jakira Silas. Wanda is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
