Yolanda Marcella (Casados) Hayes
Born November 01,1939 / Died October 24, 2020
Yolanda was born Yolanda Marcella Casados in Santa Fe, New Mexico on November 1, 1939 to Victor and Elaiza Casados (both now deceased). Yolanda and her family moved to China Lake, CA, in 1946. Yolanda went through school, grades 1 through 12, at the Burroughs campus, located on the Naval Ordnance Test Station (NOTS), Navy base in China Lake, CA. After her high school graduation, Yolanda spent 2 years at Bakersfield Junior College, then went on to Cal State Long Beach, and graduated from there. Several years later, she also earned her master's degree from Pepperdine University.
Yolanda began teaching in 1965, spending most of her career teaching the 2nd Grade at Pierce Elementary School. One of Yolanda's many accomplishments during her teaching career, and one that she was very proud of, was the Pierce Elementary School Christmas Program.
Yolanda retired from teaching in 2005 and became more socially involved in several organizations; notably WACOM and Beta Sigma Phi, serving as officers in both of these organizations. Yolanda married Jim Hayes in 1993 and they enjoyed a long and loving marriage. She also helped Jim with his part-time catering business for more than 10 years before Jim passed away earlier this year in May.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to Saint Ann Catholic School.
